"Mr. 7" and Hazel have a lively conversation with Dad who is in Australia. He will be in the air soon...it's a long way home to yesterday. Safe travels!
Isn't technology amazing?! I remember when my dad went to Egypt for 6 weeks when I was a kid and we had maybe 1 or 2 staticky telephone calls and that was in the late 1980s, just 20 years ago!
Stefan ~ I know! I remember all our years overseas sending LETTERS! Now our grandchildren roll their eyes when they hear we didn't have computers and cellphones when we were kids! What in the world did we do with our time?!
Yippes! Skype! Yet another nail in my low-tech coffin. Hazel seems particularly alert and interested. Grandson seems to inherited the nice hand curl on the mouse! Big sighs for your line "it's a long way home to yesterday." You and Peter ARE superheroes!
Rain ~ You are right, the art of writing letters is disappearing. I've thrown so many away in fits of organizing, now I wish I'd saved them.
home before dark ~ Sadly, our grandchildren can run circles around us on a computer. Thank heavens Peter and I have different skill sets, so together, we are adequate...intractable machines!!! Superheroes?? With rickety parts.
Thoughts and images of Maine and beyond.
I have lived in Iran, Bahrain, Hong Kong and England and I loved all of those places, but for me, Maine has been a constant... I feel most at home on this rocky shore and I became a full time resident in 1993. Winter's bitter cold and dark days were an adjustment, but I now view this season as a time of peace and creativity.
This is primarily a photo blog of the things I love... the back roads, small towns, gorgeous shoreline and blissful days spent on the water, with a bit of every day minutiae thrown in just for fun. It is meant to be a companion to Flickr, a global community of photographers and a place where over nine thousand of my photos have found a home. Here, I want to combine my photo stream with a narrative for a more interactive experience and to give some additional information on the images. I hope you will take a moment to visit.
All photos are my own, unless otherwise noted.

ReplyDeleteIt's so true-but getting a real letter in the mail is really still so exciting!!
