Mainers love inflatable yard decorations! After today, all the turkeys will be replaced with Santas and reindeer!
Wherever you are and wherever you are going, safe travels. May your blessings be counted in the smiles and hugs from loved ones. Happy Thanksgiving from Maine.
Carol- You won't believe this, but this morning I woke up thinking about 'you'! Then I find your sweet comment on the blog! Isn't that crazy! We were just in southern Maine this week, and now that you mention it I DID see a lot of inflatable Turkeys!! Funny it's a Maine thing! New Hampshirians love their personalized license plates- go figure!
On this Thanksgiving I want to tell you I am "thankful" for a beautiful comment that you left for me a while back... I can not tell you how often this comment reverberates in my heart and brings me peace. You said, "....but something tells me you never sit still for long. Not when there is a little corner left in the world to make a bit prettier with your boundless creativity." Your words were a gift, and I think of them often. Thank you.
Wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Joan ~ I read your wonderful comment just minutes before leaving the house to spend Thanksgiving with my parents...and so, forgive me for not responding right away. Your thoughtful words truly set the tone for the day, a hand reaching out with that most intangible of gifts....an unexpected gesture of kindness and friendship. I am touched you took the time to write on a busy Holiday morning.
I am so inspired by all that you have accomplished in your New Hampshire 'old' house and the way you have turned all the little corners into a home...each little nook and cranny a place of beauty and warmth. I imagine it suffused with the fragrant aroma of Thanksgiving and I hope your Holiday was every bit as nice as you made mine.
Thoughts and images of Maine and beyond.
I have lived in Iran, Bahrain, Hong Kong and England and I loved all of those places, but for me, Maine has been a constant... I feel most at home on this rocky shore and I became a full time resident in 1993. Winter's bitter cold and dark days were an adjustment, but I now view this season as a time of peace and creativity.
This is primarily a photo blog of the things I love... the back roads, small towns, gorgeous shoreline and blissful days spent on the water, with a bit of every day minutiae thrown in just for fun. It is meant to be a companion to Flickr, a global community of photographers and a place where over nine thousand of my photos have found a home. Here, I want to combine my photo stream with a narrative for a more interactive experience and to give some additional information on the images. I hope you will take a moment to visit.
All photos are my own, unless otherwise noted.
